For more than a year now, we have been watching for an Excursion to drive. We had a list of features that we wanted and a price range in mind. We found one a long time ago that met the list requirements and drove to see it in Plainfield... To see it drive off the lot as we pulled in!
Steve found one this week in Greenfield, at our preferred dealership. It had all of the options we wanted: 3/4 ton chassis, 4 wheel drive, leather, DVD, split second row seats, Eddie Bauer package, and it fell in the price range we were looking for. We test drove it yesterday on our way to football, and went back and bought it in the afternoon.
The best part was that we had a price in mind to ask them down to. But Steve, in talking with the salesmen and the financing officer, found out that they had several mutual friends. We were offered a discount that was $2,000 less than what we hoped to talk them down to and almost $4000 less than the list price. We felt that God was finally saying this is the time!
We didn't trade in anything for the vehicle, this will just be an extra vehicle and something that Steve can drive besides his department truck.
Here is the new to us Excursion:
While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about.

Football season is over
Today Avery's all star team lost their tournament game against New Palestine 0-7. It was a fun season and Avery was bummed that it was over. It was getting pretty chilly to watch, though, and we are thankful that our evening and weekends are going to be freed up for a little while. We have been quite busy for so long now!
Here are some pics from this morning. We are about to head to the auto dealership and I'll blog about that later.

Trick or Treat
We had a fun evening trick or treating and handing out candy. It was a bit chaotic at first. Steve was still on his way home, I was making supper, kids were handing out candy, Gunner was chasing people off, and Chaille had no pants on. We finally got it all under control though, and it was a blast!
We love our neighborhood, and there were lots of houses to visit. We only made it two cul-de-sacs before we had too much candy and too much cold. We came home to enjoy a movie and handing out more candy at home. The kids seem to enjoy that as much as trick or treating. It is so fun to watch.

All-Star Football
Today we bundled up for another chilly football game. We wore our coveralls to watch and were told repeatedly how "smart" we were for that decision. Avery's team lost 20-12, but it was a GREAT game. And Avery is so proud of his quarterback sack. It was awesome! He hit the kid like he was shot out of a cannon. We are proud of our boy and how much he has learned!

Pictures
I've neglected the blog this month... Sorry! I haven't taken a ton of pictures, but I will share the few that I have. Life has been good and we have managed to stay healthy. I pray this is the trend for the winter too :0)
Avery starts his all star football tournament tomorrow. Thankfully it is just another 3-4 games and then we are done for the season. We are ready for a break from practices and games. I think we will be on a more regular routine from then until baseball starts in April.
I can't believe how October has flown. How do I get life to slow down!?!?

Chaille's first haircut
Chaille had her hair trimmed for the first time last Saturday. She was so excited! We really had just enough trimmed off to keep it healthy and to help with the tangles. She was VERY good and enjoyed getting a balloon from the lady who cut it. Here are a few pictures from the experience:

Runner's Up
Avery's team played such a great game, but... They lost :0(
The final score was 22-16. We are so proud of Avery for how much he has learned and grown as a result of this season. I took some phone pictures that I will share. It was a chilly game!!!

More football
Silas' football team played their last game of the season on Wednesday. It was a good game, but they lost and flag season has ended for this family. Avery plays today in the championship game for his league. Exciting!!! He will still have about another month of football because of all-star season.
We have had a great experience a first year football family! The boys have learned so much. And, as part of the fun, Avery's coach has arranged a trip to eat at their sponsor business, Lincoln Square Pancake House, and they will be riding in a limo to go there and then to the game. How cool!?!
Here are some pictures from Silas' last game and the awards:
