Yesterday, Silas was outside swinging in the back yard. I watched him out the window for several minutes and reminisced about childhood. I thought about how peaceful he must feel at that moment. I just WISH I could remember that innocence. Where the world was at peace, and nothing else matters. I have honestly tried over the past couple of weeks to allow myself to experience moments of childhood bliss. I have played with the kids just trying to be one of them. But the reality is that my responsible adult side just won't hush...
I can't silence that inner voice. Deep down I know that there is always something else that needs my attention. There is always work for me to do. And, while I can be lost in a moment briefly, I can't silence the "adult" in me for long enough to experience the moment fully.
You don't know how badly I would like to remember being a child. To remember when time went more slowly and each day held promise of adventures anew. Oh, to experience that precious moment when the only thing that matters in the world is what you are doing in that very moment. To wake up in wonder of the day ahead. Oh, dear childhood, how I miss thee...
