Backyard camp out

Last night the kids enjoyed having a backyard camp out. It was the first one of the summer, but I doubt it is the last! We had fun, and when all was said and done, Avery was the only one who actually slept outside in the tent!

Right, Mom?

Chaille is in a phase right now where everything she says, she finishes by asking, "right, mom?"

A lot of times she won't go on until I answer her so I just say yes, not knowing what I'm agreeing to. Well, I decided that I need to listen more carefully because I have been agreeing to things like, "we can stay up late tonight, right mom?"

So this morning I listened intently and this was her conversation:

"Mom, sometimes poop splashes, right, mom?"

Sure.

"Sometimes it splashes really big, right mom?"

Sure.

"Like fireworks, right mom?"

Umm...

"Just say right because poop does splash like fireworks, ok mom?"

She sure keeps me on my toes. These boys have nothing on this girl!

Officially Summer Break!

Yesterday the kids had to go with me to Teacher Work Day, and didn't get to start their summer off yet, so today, we made up for it!

We went to the free movie in Greenfield and then swimming out at Kristi and Terry's with Lyndsay and her girls. We had so much fun, although the water was cold! Here is a picture from swimming:

Last night, it so happened that my brother's adult league was playing baseball at the same diamond as the boys. We had fun watching both games. Chaille really like the "vampire" (aka. Umpire) that gave her and Nolan gum for chasing foul balls!

And, I can't resist this picture of my mom trying to take a picture of Ryan's tooth:

I'm so excited that summer break has begun. And I'm very excited that we have booked another trip to the beach for October!!! Fun times ahead! I'm so thankful for this family and the chance to spend time with them. My job is the perfect job for a mother! :-)

Field day and awards

Yesterday was our last day of school. The kids enjoyed field day in the morning and awards in the afternoon.

Here are a few pictures of the boys at field day:

Avery's wet sponge toss.

Silas getting ready for the water balloon toss.

Avery doing a fun hopper ball relay.

Avery and his buddy, Bryce.

Jennifer brought Nolan and Chaille up to the school for the awards program. They were SO good!!!

An award for completing all 71 levels of Math Facts in a Flash. He was the only one who accomplished it this year!

Avery and Mrs. Pleak when he received his perfect attendance award. Avery also received a National Physical Fitness Award.

Silas received a 97% Attendance award and a national Physical Fitness award, unfortunately I was on the stage helping with both of those awards and did not get pictures. I do have a group photo of all of my fitness award winners:

The last day of school was a very fun day. I'm off today to work teacher work day, and then we are on SUMMER BREAK!!!

First Stix Games

Avery and Silas are playing baseball in a league called the SealWrap Stix this year. It is an awesome opportunity, where the boys started in clinics in January. There are 4 teams of 12 boys, ages 8 and 9. They play each other for the season, and then they have an 8u and a 9u travel team. Last night were the first league games. It was a beautiful, crisp night for baseball:

For the first game, Avery played first base, and Silas played short stop. They won 5-1.

Last Soccer Game

Chaille had her final soccer game of the season this morning. She also received her medal for participating. After soccer we came home to do laundry and hang out for the day. The kids all piled on dad, and Chaille fell asleep. This evening we went to Frosty Boy for ice cream, and then came home and the kids played outdoors. They all had showers (even the dog!) It was a very nice family Saturday.

Long weekend

Yay for a 3 day weekend for this family!!! Friday evening we went to the park to practice for the pitch, hit, and run, and to play. Here are some pictures from Friday:

Saturday was the pitch, hit, and run event at Victory field. Silas was our participant, but all of the kids got to fully experience Victory Field. We had fun and it lasted all morning. Here are some pictures from that event:

The kids on a warm up jog.

Just finished the running portion: 10.41 seconds.

Hanging out in the Indians dugout with Ashton from his team.

What an experience! Funny thing was, I saw him standing here and went to take a picture. As soon as he saw me, he climbed down really quickly, thinking he was in trouble. I had to ask him to climb back up to get the picture!

Hitting. His farthest was 91'.

Pitching. He threw 2 strikes out of 6 balls.

After the PHR, we went to lunch and Home Depot. We came home and Steve mowed while I planted flowers. After dinner we took the kids to see Epic at the drive in theater. It was a really fun time. It was truly just a great day! I love life with our little family.

I'll end with a picture Steve took of the house one evening this week. I think it looks so cozy! His new phone has an awesome camera.

Life in the field

We are pretty much always outside these days. Baseball is the biggest culprit, but we love this life. I'm gonna catch up as briefly as possible because I'm tired. So I'll share pics and try to check in again soon:

First Indians game of the season.
Proud of her wall decals!
Her favorite man.
Bedtime story. Priceless!
Soccer picture retake. Chaille insisted on sitting on her coach's lap. Speaking of her coach, I really like her! We have become friends through this league!
First 8U travel games in Greensburg. Silas is an excellent player!
Waiting for our game.
Big hitter!
He scored!
Team huddle, Go Stix!
Fishing with dad. Her second fish.
So proud of her catch.
Waiting patiently.
Watering flowers and kids!
A morning run picture. My early mornings are getting brighter! :-)
