Happy 10th Birthday, Avery!

We had a SUPER busy day, celebrating Avery's birthday! I still can't believe my baby is 10. Where does time go?

We started the day with breakfast with my parents at Lincoln Square Pancake house. Avery loved his new sunglasses and money from them:

The waitress asked if he was turning 21, and then announced to the restaurant that he was turning 16 and brought him a piece of carrot cake. We got a lot of laughs about her teasing him about his age.

We went to some garage sales, and then to pick up his cake. After that, we picked up Robbie and headed to see Monster University:

They were SO good during the movie! Then, we headed home for pizza, cake, and presents before going to the Indians game. I took most of the cake and present pictures on my camera and not my phone, but this was his cake:

The game was a lot of fun. The Indians lost, but we enjoyed watching and then the fireworks too. Avery's name was on the screen for his birthday, and ironically, they also had a Jennifer Frye celebrating too! And, I had tweeted the first picture below to the Indians and they used it on the big screen during the game too:

Summer fun

We have had a lot of fun in our first week of summer! And we have found lots of free things to do too. Today we went to the free movie again, and then to the park for the free kids meals they offer. We enjoyed going with friends, and staying in touch with Jen-Jen and the kids while we are off!

The pictures are from yesterday. First from Nolan's game. He had a rain delay so he and Chey had to hang out in the dugout:

This is from lunch. We met Sarah at the pizza king station:

After we got home from baseball, the boys played catch with Steve in the backyard and Chey and I took a walk. I couldn't keep up with her on her bike!!! I ended up jogging behind her to keep her moving! It was a fun day. Today has been too!

Pitching Debuts

Avery was so excited all day yesterday, knowing that he was the starting pitcher for his baseball game last night. Little did Silas know that he would also get to pitch!

Avery actually pitched a full game, although the other team only had 3 nine year olds so he didn't have to throw too many pitches. He did a good job and struck out two batters.

The boys ended up playing on opposite teams the second game, because the two teams that were playing were both short players. In the last inning, the one teams starting pitcher ran out of pitches, and Silas was asked to pitch. In his two thirds of an inning he also struck out a batter. He did a really good job too!

Proud of these boys:

Backyard camp out

Last night the kids enjoyed having a backyard camp out. It was the first one of the summer, but I doubt it is the last! We had fun, and when all was said and done, Avery was the only one who actually slept outside in the tent!

Right, Mom?

Chaille is in a phase right now where everything she says, she finishes by asking, "right, mom?"

A lot of times she won't go on until I answer her so I just say yes, not knowing what I'm agreeing to. Well, I decided that I need to listen more carefully because I have been agreeing to things like, "we can stay up late tonight, right mom?"

So this morning I listened intently and this was her conversation:

"Mom, sometimes poop splashes, right, mom?"

Sure.

"Sometimes it splashes really big, right mom?"

Sure.

"Like fireworks, right mom?"

Umm...

"Just say right because poop does splash like fireworks, ok mom?"

She sure keeps me on my toes. These boys have nothing on this girl!

Officially Summer Break!

Yesterday the kids had to go with me to Teacher Work Day, and didn't get to start their summer off yet, so today, we made up for it!

We went to the free movie in Greenfield and then swimming out at Kristi and Terry's with Lyndsay and her girls. We had so much fun, although the water was cold! Here is a picture from swimming:

Last night, it so happened that my brother's adult league was playing baseball at the same diamond as the boys. We had fun watching both games. Chaille really like the "vampire" (aka. Umpire) that gave her and Nolan gum for chasing foul balls!

And, I can't resist this picture of my mom trying to take a picture of Ryan's tooth:

I'm so excited that summer break has begun. And I'm very excited that we have booked another trip to the beach for October!!! Fun times ahead! I'm so thankful for this family and the chance to spend time with them. My job is the perfect job for a mother! :-)

Field day and awards

Yesterday was our last day of school. The kids enjoyed field day in the morning and awards in the afternoon.

Here are a few pictures of the boys at field day:

Avery's wet sponge toss.

Silas getting ready for the water balloon toss.

Avery doing a fun hopper ball relay.

Avery and his buddy, Bryce.

Jennifer brought Nolan and Chaille up to the school for the awards program. They were SO good!!!

An award for completing all 71 levels of Math Facts in a Flash. He was the only one who accomplished it this year!

Avery and Mrs. Pleak when he received his perfect attendance award. Avery also received a National Physical Fitness Award.

Silas received a 97% Attendance award and a national Physical Fitness award, unfortunately I was on the stage helping with both of those awards and did not get pictures. I do have a group photo of all of my fitness award winners:

The last day of school was a very fun day. I'm off today to work teacher work day, and then we are on SUMMER BREAK!!!

First Stix Games

Avery and Silas are playing baseball in a league called the SealWrap Stix this year. It is an awesome opportunity, where the boys started in clinics in January. There are 4 teams of 12 boys, ages 8 and 9. They play each other for the season, and then they have an 8u and a 9u travel team. Last night were the first league games. It was a beautiful, crisp night for baseball:

For the first game, Avery played first base, and Silas played short stop. They won 5-1.

Last Soccer Game

Chaille had her final soccer game of the season this morning. She also received her medal for participating. After soccer we came home to do laundry and hang out for the day. The kids all piled on dad, and Chaille fell asleep. This evening we went to Frosty Boy for ice cream, and then came home and the kids played outdoors. They all had showers (even the dog!) It was a very nice family Saturday.
