Spring has arrived, and we are about to embark on another season of having 4 children in sports. We have teams finalized and the fun of practice begins in the near future. This week and next, the kids are on spring break. Steve is home with them 8 of the 10 week days, which is quite a change. Meanwhile I'm working and making the best of it. :)
Speaking of work, I still enjoy my job. I thought I'd miss teaching when spring break rolled around, but I really don't. Of course I would love to be off with my kids, but break isn't really a break when you have to catch up and then try to get ahead for teaching. At least with this job when I have a day off, I truly have a day OFF. This weekend was so relaxing. I was able to work around the house and not think about school or getting the kids ready for a week of school. I'm truly content in this job. I'm thankful.
The kids have been on and off sick this winter. Nothing that we've seen the doctor for much, but just little bug types of sick. Chaille had a stomach bug 3 months in a row. Nolan had it twice. Steve has had a nagging cough all winter. I'm so ready for summer weather and for this junk to move on! We have had some nice, spring-like days, but not lasting just yet. We are all ready for it to stay, but know that we have another couple of months of chilly days off and on.
I've made my blog private again, and am working on making our lives a little quieter. Steve and I both got new Bibles in the message version. We plan to study it together (or rather, he will help me as I study.) I'm looking forward to focusing inward and becoming more devoted to my home than the outside world. I love being a friend, but I hate being caught up in drama. Seems drama shows up at my door a lot, and my goal is to start shutting that out. I'm ready for calm, family, love. Drama can shove off. :)
Well, I'm at work and I need to get back to it. As baseball and softball begin, I plan to add more pictures.

February 4, 2015
Well, my updates are fewer than I thought they might be. I've learned a lot at work, and am able to keep myself busy MOST of the time. I'm uploading pictures from the past 3-4 weeks.
This first group of pictures is from a birthday memorial that we celebrated for my friend's husband, whom she lost just 2 weeks prior. The kids were very sweet, and watched the balloons for as far as they could see. We prayed and cried, and longed for Heaven together that day.
The kids have enjoyed helping babysit Kristen's kids on the weekends, when she is working. Luke is in love with the boys, and he climbs all over them. They are in love with him, and they let him. Here are some pictures from one of our Saturday's together:
Allie and Avery have also made buddies. They cuddle a lot. :)
One weeknight, Chaille and I went to Disney on Ice with a group of friends. We had a great time. We laughed a lot that night about how cool we were, caravanning in our mini-vans. We must be "that" old these days. You know what though, we all love where we are at in life. We love our families and our children, and doing things like Disney on Ice is exactly what we wanted to be doing that night!
We had a total of 20 people, and we all fit in one row. Not too bad for free tickets.
On Sunday, January 25th, Silas was baptized. It was an amazing day, and we are so proud of this choice that he made for himself. We are finding that we love our church and our church family. After attending for 3 to 4 years, we truly feel like Park Chapel is home for us.

Tomorrow Nolan turns 7. I can't believe he is 7 already!! This past Sunday, we celebrated and watched the first half of the Super Bowl with friends. Dana's birthday is this week too, so Nolan and Dana had a party together. Here are some pictures of the fun we had:
Sarah really took to Steve. She went to him as if she belonged to him. It was really sweet. I loved that she attached herself to my giant teddy bear!

Catching Up
Anymore it seems that all I do on this blog is "catch-up." I'm hoping that now, with my new job, I'll be able to post more often about what is going on with our family. And, I'll add pictures too, if the computer will cooperate. :)
Looks like it WILL cooperate. This was our tree on Christmas morning. Santa was generous to the kids this year. I took all of our Christmas morning photos on the camera, and not my phone, so I don't have pictures to post of Christmas day.
Chaille did a lot of early waking over Christmas Break, but she often came and climbed into our bed and went back to sleep. I probably have 100 pictures of Chaille sleeping. It doesn't get any less adorable to me.
Silas bought a Big Joe chair with the money my grandma sent him this year. Gunner decided it would be a great place for him to sit.
Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa Frye was delayed this year, due to Grandpa Lucian's funeral. It was new year's eve before we were able to celebrate, and the kids really enjoyed having Christmas again after a week off from celebrations. Here are a few pictures from our Christmas with the Frye's:
Well, let me do a little catching up on what's going on in the world of our family. I'll try to be brief now, and then I can do a better job of blogging here from now on:
Chaille is doing awesome. Growing so fast and doing super in school. Her behavior is great in school, and the week before Christmas break she clipped up to purple 4 days out of the 5. Her favorite Christmas gift was a cardboard play house that she can color. The boys have enjoyed helping her decorate it too. She is enjoying ballet, and this week starts Math Pentathalon after school.
Nolan is doing very well also. He's matured so much lately, and he's so tall and thin these days. He will be 7 here in February, and he's stoked to have another Super Bowl Birthday party, this year with our friend Dana sharing the celebration. He is doing fine in school, but Steve and I agree that he needs the most help to stay ahead. He's so content to just run and play. School isn't his priority. He is also starting Math Pentathalon this week.
Silas is 9 going on 19 these days. He's starting using his tablet to track workouts, and is pushing himself to get stronger and faster. He's doing awesome in school, and loves the projects that his teacher gives him. He's just one of those kids who seems to excel at whatever he does. And he still aims to please (which is great when it comes to cleaning, because he is awesome help!) He starts baseball workouts tomorrow and Math Pentathalon this week.
Avery is 11, and going through some big changes. I can tell emotionally that he is preparing for junior high in a big way. He is doing great in school and finished the first semester with all A's and one high B. He is really into football still, and says that this will be his last year of baseball. He and Silas are on the same team again this year, so he starts workouts tomorrow too, and Stretch after school where he will be learning French! He also is excited to be learning to play guitar as part of his education at school.
Steve is working a shift schedule and then is a HUGE help at home. He keeps the laundry going, and makes dinner most of the nights he is home. He's a bit bored with being home so much, and is searching for some land nearby, so that we can raise some animals and garden in the summer. We have our eye on one piece of property that is just 2 miles away. It is pending, but the realtor said that, due to some zoning issues, the people who are buying it may back out. They want to build a home there, but we wouldn't. It may work out in our favor! I'm certainly praying!!!
I started my new job with the city a week ago today. I already love my new schedule and the lack of stress from not teaching. I'm excited to feel like myself again, and can't help but wonder if the migraines I had been having will just completely stop. I haven't had one yet! And I can tell that my blood pressure is down. It's fabulous. I'm looking forward to getting back into a cleaning routine and a workout routine. I gave the house a top to bottom yesterday, and now have a daily schedule to stay on top of it. I'm in love with having my evenings and weekends to fully devote to my family now. And the job is great. I work with some lovely ladies, and love the adult interaction. I had really missed that with teaching.
Well, I've been working on personal things a lot this afternoon. I'd better get busy at work. I'll be back to blog again soon! :)

Changes
Life has changed a lot for this family since my last post in March. I've tried to post with no success several times, but for some reason blogger doesn't like my posts from my phone. And... as much as I'd like to have time now to upload a bunch of photos, I have about 15 minutes before we are out the door for yet another football practice.
In some ways, life looks the same as it did a year ago at this time. We spend our free time at the football fields, and both Avery and Silas are playing all-star football, which means we are out at the fields every day but Friday. And we are still attending the same church and associating with mostly the same friends.
But there are so many things that are very different. Steve is on shift, which I guess was true last time I blogged, but that is a big change from last summer. And I'm in a totally different school teaching a totally different subject. I'm teaching junior high FACS here in Greenfield. I love the new commute. And teaching is still "just okay." I don't think it is my calling to be a teacher. Here in the near future I'll be moving on. But for now, this is where God wants me, and this is where I will find my contentment for the time being. I'm looking ahead some, and I'll share more about that when I'm ready.
The kids are attending school here in town now too. They absolutely love it. They are home by 2:30 and actually have a life aside from school and sports. They get to do homework and play before dinner! And Chaille has started ballet, which is simply adorable. She loves it, and I love how she looks forward to it on Tuesdays. When I come home she is fully outfitted and ready to head out the door.
Life is really good for us. Everyone is enjoying life in one town, with much less driving and much less hustle and bustle. And I'm looking forward to where God is taking our little family. Family Update
It isn't easy to keep up with life AND a blog. I keep proving that to myself. But, life has been okay for us. No big news to share, but I thought I'd update anyway with just a little about what is going on in our lives.
OVERALL - It has been a long, cold, snowy winter. We are all ready for spring, and some recent warm days has meant a lot of outside time (especially for the kids.) This momma is ready for smaller loads of laundry, and the smell of sunscreen! :)
CHAILLE - She is well aware that her 5th birthday is rapidly approaching. She has been very healthy since February and the little "flu" bug that had her with fever and cold like symptoms. She is reading like a champ, and could give Nolan a run for his money very soon. She can count by 1's, 5's, and 10's and count about as high as you want her to. She can add single digits, and I think she will thrive in Kindergarten next year. She LOVES school and she loves to just sit and color. She will do it for hours at a time. She's grown and is currently wearing size 7/8 shirts and size 6 or 7 jeans.
NOLAN - Nolan is 6 now, and he is an amazing little man. He is doing very well in school and is quite athletic. We signed him up for baseball this spring, and are anxious to see the difference a year has made for him. He did very well last year for being one of the youngest on the team. He is in love with Legos ever since Steve took the kids to see the Lego movie. He makes some pretty amazing things with them. He also is growing like a weed and moving onto size 8/10 shirts and size 7/8 pants. He has started reading with more emphasis and more smoothly. He's ready for 1st grade for sure.
SILAS - Silas is doing amazingly well in school, bringing home good grades every week. He is a sharp guy with such athleticism. I can't wait to see him play baseball with the older boys this year. As his dad says, "He's a natural." He just gets it. He has struggled emotionally with some of the boys at school. Thankfully he has an amazing teacher, and she has been on top of it. He just needs to realize that the majority of the behavior he is receiving is likely out of jealousy. And we are quite proud that he has not bought into the behavior and been in trouble himself. He's a remarkable young man!
AVERY - Avery is just wonderful. He's been involved with a lot this year. Spell bowl, math bowl, sports.... And he handles it all in stride. He did awesome on his round in Math Bowl, and they finished 1st in their division at the meet and 18th in the state. He was recognized at the final home basketball game for earning his 100 AR points, and constantly has a book in his hand. His books of choice are usually non-fiction, and the topics he reads about tell you a lot about his personality (sports, history, world facts, etc.) He is a smart cookie and it comes from his love of learning. :)
STEVE - Steve, after a few weeks on shift again, was asked to teach some classes for the Fire Dept. So, he has been back on days for 4 weeks now. We have transitioned quickly back into that life. He has 2 more weeks of it, and we are enjoying it while we can. The good news is that he will be home with us some on our 2nd week of spring break. While we aren't going any where this year, it will be great to have some of the time together as a family. Steve has had some stress with work, but he handles it well. He is my hero. He handles life in the most mature way, yet he doesn't take life too seriously. He's the most wonderful father and husband, and he shows us that he loves us EVERY day.
JEN - I'm doing well. The weather changing has had me congested for several weeks now, and I'm over it... But otherwise I'm doing okay. Things at work are beyond stressful, but thankfully it seems that the things that are going on don't affect me in any way. That's a relief, but it doesn't help the atmosphere. People are edgy, and rightfully so. Spring break is coming at a good time (March 22) and I'll be thankful for a couple of weeks where I can focus on my home and my family. I'm counting my blessings that God has worked in my life the way he has. (I'm going to update on this testimony on my momma's blog here soon.) God is certainly beside us right now.
Well, the kids have been helping around the house today, and we promised them some Frosty Boy this evening. I'd better get cleaned up so that we can head out. I pray today finds you happy, healthy, and full of thankfullness! Back soon. (maybe with pictures next time...)

1/25 - 2/1 Sickness
What a week it has been...
After Nolan was diagnosed with strep last Thursday, the health of this family went downhill fast. Silas started coughing and complaining of body aches on Sunday. Took him to the doctor twice and was told it wasn't strep or the flu. Just a virus.
By Wednesday Avery had it and Thursday Chaille and Steve came down with it. I had the congestion but not the fever and such. I'm the only one who had a flu shot, so I can't help but wonder if it wasn't the flu after all. How else did I not get it???
Now we have shared beyond the family and our babysitter has it. I feel bad having exposed others!!!
So, with calling in subs on Monday and Friday, and a snow day Tuesday, I had a short week at work. I'm so ready to return to routine. With the forecast, it doesn't look promising. :(
I haven't taken a ton of pictures this week, but I will share what I have. Hope to have news of a better week health wise and Nolans birthday soon.
