The First Chapter...

I'm seriously going to write a book about the things that happen in our household. Life with 4 children under 6 years old is just a riot sometimes. Tonight as I was working through a totally hilarious (and potentially overwhelming) situation, I decided "ok, this is it, the first chapter!"

Here's a picture of what it looked like... Steve calls and says he is on his way home, (hold on a sec, baby's crying. Gotta put the pacifier back in her mouth...)

Ok, I'm back... As I was saying... Steve called and was on his way home at 6 p.m. Another late evening for us. Which means things are sure to fall apart before he gets here. You see, if he were home by now he would find things in some semblance of order. Now, forget it! So, we just got home from the park where Silas scraped his arm and Nolan got soaking wet playing in a puddle. So all are thirsty, Silas is screaming that "it is getting worst" (his words not mine!) And Chaille decides that the stroller is no longer moving, so she begins crying. So... 3 bandaids later (2 for Silas' arm and 1 for Nolan to get him to stop going "uh uh uh" at me), and 3 drinks, and I'm down to just the baby crying.

I get the baby out of the stroller (which I have wheeled into the house...don't tell Steve!), and proceed to change her diaper and get her to let out a monstrous burp and a little spit up. As I'm changing her diaper the boys begin bickering (oh the noise...) and then Nolan lets himself out the front door. Holy Cow, right? There is so much going on. So, I take the baby under one arm, tell the boys to "get along" and go out to grab Nolan just as he makes it onto the front steps. I swoop him up and get an immediate scream of disapproval. Now he and Chaille are both crying and Avery and Silas are still fighting. As soon as I get into the door, I try to set Nolan down, but in his fit of rage, he throws himself down and hits his head... just at the same time as....

Mt. Saint Chaille erupts! She VOMITED all over him! Warm milky baby spit-up all over the other baby (still in his wet shorts from the park, thank goodness!) So... I wipe it up, lay Chaille in her bassinette, change Nolan, and put him in his bed. Because at this point the only way I'm going to get dinner ready is to have them napping.

And I forgot to mention that after the eruption, I erupted myself briefly at the two little boys who were still fighting over a wire whisk that they weren't supposed to have. (Nolan had done a little "magic" in the kitchen earlier today!)

So, now I have two babies laying down, doubt Nolan is sleeping, and Shay is crying again. Two boys "trying" to play nicely so as to not upset "the beast" that erupted earlier. And I must attempt to make dinner for a husband who never ate lunch today.

Wish me luck! I'm off to stick the pacifier back in and then start back to my duties...

Summer Fun

Summer can be so fun! We've had a couple of really fun days recently. Last Friday, we attended a birthday party for Ryan and Emma Dagley. The boys got to ride a horse as part of the party. Then, on Monday we went swimming for the first time this summer. Unfortunately my hands were so full that day that I didn't get any pictures. Last night we went to the County Fair. The kids had a blast and were very well behaved! Here are some pictures of our summer fun:

Emma Dagley, Jacob McCorkhill, Silas, and Avery waiting in line to ride the horse at Emma and Ryan's Birthday party.
Avery LOVED the horse!

Silas was not quite as confident, but enjoyed his ride anyway!

This was the fit Si threw when it was time to leave. He was being rotten, but I find it adorable. I love capturing pictures of my children just being children! :o)

The Dragon Coaster! For some reason the boys always want to ride this first.

Nolan's first fair ride. He started off ok, but then decided he didn't like it. He's not quite as adventurous as the other two (at least so far.)

Brothers boating...

Chaille was very good at the fair. She slept just a little at first, then just took it all in. By the time we got home, she was exhausted and ready to lay in her bed! Even today, she is still very tired.

Avery's 6th Birthday!

Avery had a great birthday party! He had a beautiful day for it, and he really enjoyed being celebrated! Here are some pictures from his party:

Chaille enjoying her brother's day!

The cake. Nolan had just stuck his fingers into the icing!

Chaille with Grandma Darlene.

I don't know what we were listening too, but we were very intent...

Daddy feeding Nolan his cake.

All of the excitement wore that baby girl out. Her first party ever!

My brother, Ryan, and my dad. Sorry, Dad, I caught you starting to yawn!

Avery hugging his Great-Grandma Grinstead, thanking her for his gift.

Daddy's buddy saying "CHEESE!"

Opening presents.

Avery and his "girlfriend," Rylee. I loved that he could read his own cards this year! So special!

My brother brought his bounce house. The kids loved it!

The Birthday Boy (with cake on his face...)

Whacking the pinata!

Nolan and his best buddy, Papaw Bobby!

Surprise visitors from Illinois! My friend, Teresa, and her husband, Bob, came by with their girls, Ashley (left), and Allison. It is so much fun to see them when they are in town. And the girls are just 5 months older than Chaille!

Chaille with her Great-Grandma Grinstead, who is visiting from Florida.
And here is Shay with her Great-Aunt Sandy, who is also visiting from Florida!
I also wanted to Praise God here in my blog, for the news that the lesion on Dad's kidney was benign!!! It wasn't a tumor at all, but rather just sort of like a hardened bruise. The doctor said that they usually only see these types of things in stab or gunshot victims. I say it is just a testiment to the power of PRAYER!!! Praise God!!!
Have a great week!

Pictures

I've still got to get the pictures from my Aunt's camera to show pictures from Avery's birthday. I do, however have the pictures uploaded from several recent events in our household. So, here they are with captions underneath:

Playing with Sarah, a favorite pasttime!

This was a stretch but they made it. These boys totally adore Sarah!

Avery has been a huge help in keeping my flowers watered! He gets rewarded by being able to play in the hose afterwards. Isn't he so big???

Steve took the boys fishing (and for a campout recently too.) Here's Silas' first catch of the day.

Avery's first catch of the day! Both boys caught lots of fish (which we ate for dinner a few days later :o)

Nolan just saying "Cheese!"

Playing ball. He swings the bat, drops it, and runs while yelling "run, run, run!"

Tickle time! Daddy and Silas enjoy some fun time down at Grandma Shell's.

Avery teasing Aunt Kim. She was chasing he and Silas around.

Nolan "driving" the van. The scary thing is that the time where I have children driving will come all too soon! Avery only has 10 more years :o)

Buddies... Cuddling on the couch before bed!

Aww... That's what Nolan says every time he looks at Chaille!

Avery showing me his medal that he receieved after his last t-ball game. It was a great season, Avery had a lot of fun, and I'm going to miss watching him play. Looking forward to another season next year!!!

Sleeping Beauty

The shirt says it all!

Shay and I visited Grandpa Bobby after his kidney surgery. He had surgery on Monday to remove a lesion from his kidney. On Tuesday she and I visited and she was very sleepy. Papaw told me to put her in bed with him. It was so sweet! They both fell asleep for a little bit. Papaw Bobby is so good to his grandbabies! And he's recovering nicely at home now.
So... that's a little of what we've been up to lately. Chaille just woke from her nap, so I must go!
More soon!

6 Weeks Old

My baby girl is 6 weeks old today! I can't believe that six weeks have flown by already. As of last Friday she was 11 pounds 9 ounces, 24 inches long! Big girl!
Chaille is an incredible baby! She is sleeping well, getting up just one time in the night usually between 3:30 and 4:00. She is very mild mannered and easy to care for. She likes to fall asleep on her own anymore, which is both good and bad. It's great for the long run, but yet I can't rock her to sleep.
She is just starting to smile, but it is mostly a sort of content look that she gets. It is so fun to see how she is changing so quickly and how her personality emerges. She has some cute little noises and some pouty cries. It's funny how she kind of "tattles" on her brothers by whimpering when they get in her face. She's a princess and a drama queen already!
I'm so in love with sweet Chaille Jo!

Yay!

Our DSL is here, and in just playing on it for a few minutes, I LOVE IT!

We had some really poor connection speeds if anything before, so this is nice.

As soon as I get pictures uploaded from Avery's birthday and some other recent stuff, I will post more. For now, it is Nolan's naptime, and Chaille is on my lap. More soon!

Soon

Since we have moved, our broadband internet connection has been extremely unpredictable! Most of the time we have zero signal and if we do get some it is slower than even dial-up. I've done most of my entries on my phone, but can't add pictures this way.

That being said... Tuesday we are getting DSL! Hopefully after that you will see posts more often and pictures included. I'm excited because I've missed being able to blog about the day to day things that happen in our lives!

Summer Days

So, it isn't officially summer yet, but we have been enjoying the "summer" we've had so far! Things are settling in nicely for our family. Steve has finally gotten past his month of busy work days and we have enjoyed having him home for a five day weekend this week! Avery has just one more week of tball and then celebrates his sixth birthday next weekend. Silas is growing and changing so fast and enjoyed fishing with dad and Avery this week. And they camped out for the first time this season last night. They were so excited! Nolan is growing so much too. And he amazes me at how good he is. For a sixteen month old you cannot believe how much he does and knows! Chaille is one month old today. She is growing very well despite some reflux issues. I've had to start adding cereal to her milk to thicken it in attempt to help her keep it down. I just started today but she's done well so far. I hope this will continue as she has been uncomfortable lately. It has gotten progressively worse. Let's hope this is all it takes!

Adapting

Life is good at the Frye home! Everyone has adapted well to life with "baby sister" here. We are slowly getting back to our routine. Thankfully every afternoon I have been getting a couple hours where both Nolan and Chaille (or "Shea" as the older boys call her) are both napping. I've actually been able to get some housework accomplished too!

We have been utilizing the fact that we live in town to the fullest! We frequent the park and enjoy walks to the post office, store, and grandma and grandpa's. It is great to have options right here in town and to be able to get away without driving! And it makes life easier on me when we don't have to load into and out of the van.

Avery's birthday is quickly approaching and I can't believe he will be six! Six years ago our world became changed in a way we never could have imagined. We became parents and learned just how deeply love can grow. And now... We feel blessed to have four children and each other to love and share the precious moments in life! And Avery is so excited to be celebrated again! He LOVES BIRTHDAYS!!!

Well, baby girl is waking. Iust thought I would check in while I had a minute. Back soon I hope!
