In My Daughter's Eyes

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about
It's hangin' on when your heart has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see
how happy she made me
For I'll be there...
In my daughter's eyes
These are the lyrics to a Martina McBride song, and until now I've never paid really close attention to them. You see, I never thought I cared if I got a baby girl or not. I was completely content with my three boys. But God has blessed me with a beautiful daughter and I have realized that it is different having a girl. It brings a different perspective when you are the mother of a little lady. I have a very special relationship with my mother, and now I will have the opportunity to someday have that same relationship with my daughter!
With the boys, I get to be a mother to them, but daddy gets to teach them how to be young men. It will be my job to teach Chaille to be a young lady. I can't tell you how blessed I feel that God has given me this opportunity (or responsibility.) I fully comprehend that she was not a surprise to Him like she was to us. And I cannot imagine what life would have ever been like without her! I feel a sense that our family is complete in a way that I never felt before.
I'm so excited to experience the growth in our children's lives. They all make me happy and give me purpose in life. They help me see the world through innocent eyes again. They make me realize just how much God loves me! They are blessings for sure, and I'm so thankful to be given the opportunity to be a part of their lives!!!
